Frequently Asked Questions about the Basketball Program:

  • Q: When are registrations?
    A: Usually the 2nd, 3rd and/or 4th Wednesday of September.
  • Q: What kind of league is this?
A: Paxton is a fundamental coed basketball league. Teams play other in-house Paxton teams and no travel outside of Lower Paxton Township will be necessary unless your child participates in all-stars in March.
  • Q: What type of rules are there?
A: You can view the Pony rules here and the Midget rules here.
  • Q: How much time is each child guaranteed to play?
A: Every player in the Paxton League is guaranteed a minimum of one half for Pony level and one and one half quarters for the Midget level.
  • Q: What are the ages?
A: Players must be between the ages of 6 and 13 as of December 31st, of the year the season begins.
  • Q: What are the playing levels?
A: 6 year olds are assigned to Skillbuilders with basic instruction (30 minute sessions) thru the year and no games played. 7 year old Skillbuilder classes are 1 hour in length and will consist of 4 games against the Pony Division "B" teams which are 8 year olds.  8 to 10 year olds play on the Pony level and 11 to 13 year olds play on the Midget level.
  • Q: How long does the season run?
A: The season starts in November and will run thru February unless your child makes all-stars; then it will go to the end of March.
  • Q: Is their a fundraiser program?
A: Yes. All players on the Pony and Midget levels are required to sell Basketball Pampered Chef Drawing tickets. Tickets will be sold thru November 15th and the drawing will be in January 2011. If you choose not to do the fundraiser, you can do a buyout of $70.
  • Q: What else does Paxton Basketball have to offer?
A: The league has no standings and all teams make an end of the year tournament which determines the league champion. At the end of the season, all players receive an award and keep their T-Shirts. Also, players may be able to play on the all-star tournament teams if selected by their coach.
